Woo Hoo! Blur guitarist confirms NEW BLUR ALBUM 2012

BREAKING NEWS: Graham Coxon has just confirmed Blur will be working on a new album this year, 2012, the year of Blur's big return to music charts and UK music.

And when's that ? Coxon says that the band will start working on new tracks and putting together an eighth studio album, after an 8 year hiatus, after the Brit Awards 2012.

Blur has nominated for Outstanding Contribution Award and will perform several songs together on the stage on the night.

The guitarist, who has just finished a solo album "A+E" to be released in April 2012, paying homage to 80s guitar music and dark tunes of that era, said he "couldn't wait to" rejoin bandmates Damon Albarn, Dave Rowntree and Alex James to make their comeback album.

Graham plans to "lap up" the Brit Awards after their feud with Oasis in 1995 caused them to be intimated by the experience.

An article from Dailyrecord provides good insight into Blur's exciting new album:

“It’s pretty nice to be getting the Brit award", Graham said. “We haven’t planned the rehearsals yet, but there will definitely be another Blur album.

“2009 was an amazing healing experience for us. We were really swept away with it and got a lot out of our systems. We realised how much we still had in common, that we are good friends, that we are brothers.

“We’re always going to meet up and want to play things. We do like recording. Eventually, even if things aren’t around the corner, Blur will do more recordings together. We all love each other and still like making music so that’s not a bad start.”

He added: “I’ve been to the Brits only two or three times. I remember the one where Blur won a lot of Brits and we were, unfortunately, next to the Oasis table. I was getting a lot of gyp from Liam Gallagher. It was all very worrying but it was an amazing night.

“I felt slightly guilty about winning them all. That’s just how I am. I should just have enjoyed it. But I was worried that people would think we were spoilt brats. This time, sod it, I’m just going to lap it up I think.”

Looks like Blur is coming back, and this time, bigger, more mature, steady and better than ever. You heard it first on BlurBalls, the latest, most up to date fan site on the internet. And because we are ecstatic, we made a little poster to celebrate and spread the news...

Blur's eighth album "Mirror Press" track list announced - 2012

BREAKING NEWS: The tracklist for britpop superstars Blur's new album "Mirror Press" is released on Wikipedia :

mirrorpress, blur mirror press, blur wiki, blur album new

So this is either the real-deal here, or it is someone messing around with information. Blur is supposedly set to produce new material this year, working with William Orbit in January to record and remix some new tracks, but Blur's Wikipedia page has been edited on and off these two days.

Yesterday, the page for Blur's 2012 album, supposedly called "Mirror Press" has been put up, removed, added back and removed AGAIN from their discography. Now the tracklist for the album has been revealed and the song names are:
  1. Dog Years
  2. Mirror Press
  3. Just Look Around
  4. Nostalgic Song
  5. From a Silent Film
  6. Secret Den
  7. Insomnia
  8. Caster Song
  9. Fable
  10. Growing Nails
  11. On The Road Tonight
  12. Faster Life
  13. Room 101
It seems that some song names are quite unusual (Growing Nails ! ) but this COULD be true. There still hasn't been any confirmation or leakage from the band and their management, and there's no news from William Orbit himself.

Visit their wikipedia site yourself to see (Click here).  (Edit: It has been removed again. This may just be someone's edit for fun).

Blur's eighth album to be named 'Mirror Press' - 2012

Breaking news on Blur's eighth comeback album (to be produced by William Orbit) - the album's possible name has been leaked out and posted onto Wikipedia this morning and the name was written down to be "Mirror Press".

mirrorpress, mirror press blur, blur new album, blur wikipedia

Although it was posted up a week ago and has been taken down once, it is CURRENTLY ON WIKIPEDIA AGAIN.

This little leak COULD give us a clue to what the album's name would be, or could be the actual title name. Perhaps even if this was not the real name, the words "Mirror" and "Press" may pop up in the album title. Below is a quote from the history of the article before it was removed:

It was noted during a short interview leading up to the BRIT Awards that a band member mentioned an Album or Single of the name 'Mirror Press'. And that the band were working on it mainly for their own entertainment and joy.

There has been no confirmation from Blur or their management on this, but watch this space for the latest Blur news and anything related to their LATEST ALBUM in 2012 !

This year is going to be a great year for Blur and us fans and you're very welcome to contact us (thanks Maria for the news) if anything that crops up.

(Edit: It has now been removed again. EDIT: It' back up there! We are just as puzzled [and excited] as you are! )

Blur to produce new record with William Orbit - 2012

This is possibly the most exciting news of January 2012 - Blur is possibly going to collaborate with William Orbit, another English electronic/ alternative record producer who produced Blur's sixth album "13" in 1999, possibly for a new track / record in the making.

On William Orbit's twitter (click to visit) he tweeted the following messages, one to Graham Coxon and one to World Circuit.

The tweet to Graham Coxon seems to suggest that Orbit is meeting with Graham on March 3rd 2012, for a "vocal session".

Then his second tweet clearly says that he will be in the studio with Damon Albarn from Wednesday.

Blur will be performing at the Brit Awards in 2012, and there has been some speculation about whether there will be a practice gig or some warm-up event, and Damon and the gang has been dropping many hints about possibly making records or even an album !

Something's brewing in the Blur-sphere and us fans are getting hints and leads!

You heard it first on BlurBalls.com - we do find out the latest, most up to date news about Blur and Damon's happenings. Don't forget to share the news and drop us a line about what you think of all these "clues" ?

UPDATE: ITS TRUE - William Orbit is IN THE STUDIO with Blur currently, as of Jan 2012 and producing something new! You heard it first on BlurBalls.com!

On his facebook page dated 13th January:

He updated his facebook page on 22nd January:

Although this Facebook message could refer to the new Madonna album, he revealed in his earlier tweets (above) that he will be in the studio with Damon Albarn from Monday (January 16th 2012).

Orbit won the Q Awards for BEST PRODUCER for Blur's "13" album in November 1999. He is also best known for producing Madonna's album Ray of Light.

UPDATE 23rd Jan: Dave Rowntree tweeted about meeting up with Graham Coxon and the band on 12th Jan:

Its seems there will definitely be new material on the way!

Blur Comeback with 'Beetlebum' Interview 2012

Blur interview on what the song Beetlebum (No. 1 on the UK Charts) was about.

Are they trying to test their fan base ? Could this mean something's up ?

We think Blur is up to something here, perhaps signaling a new album is in progress or that Blur are truly making some new single or album to be released in 2012...

And what of the Brit Awards ? It's up and coming, and how can Blur perform without rehearsals ? There may just be the chance of a warm up pre-Brits gig in the future!
